The MJ Arsenal Creek Hand Pipe is a 4" borosilicate spoon pipe wrapped in a warm walnut sleeve, from MJ Arsenal's Alpine Collection. The airpath is 100% borosilicate glass; the walnut is what your hand actually touches — which is the point, because glass gets hot and wood doesn't. Angies Boutique stocks it as authentic MJ Arsenal from our Los Angeles warehouse.
⚡ At-a-Glance Decision Summary
- What it is: A 4" × 1" borosilicate hand pipe with a walnut wood body sleeve, part of the Alpine Collection.
- Why choose it: Wood where your fingers go, glass where the smoke goes. It stays comfortable to hold in a way all-glass pipes don't.
- Standout differentiator: It doesn't look like drug paraphernalia. It looks like a nice object.
- Confidence signal: Authentic MJ Arsenal at the brand's own price, from a range we already stock deeply.
🧠 Our Verdict
The most grown-up-looking hand pipe we sell. If the reason you don't leave a pipe on the coffee table is that it looks like a pipe, the Alpine Collection is the answer, and the Creek is the best-priced way into it. The trade-off is real though: wood needs different care from glass, and you can't just drop this in an isopropyl bath the way you would a plain spoon. Read the care section — it's short and it's the difference between this ageing well and looking tired in six months.
Quick Summary
The MJ Arsenal Creek Hand Pipe measures 4" × 1" and pairs a 100% borosilicate glass airpath with a walnut wood sleeve. It's a spoon-style dry pipe with a bowl and a side carb, part of MJ Arsenal's Alpine Collection. The box contains the pipe only.
MJ Arsenal Creek Hand Pipe – 4" Borosilicate & Walnut Spoon Pipe (Alpine Collection)
Wood where your hand goes, glass where the smoke goes. That's the whole idea behind MJ Arsenal's Alpine Collection, and on a hand pipe it's more than styling — a glass spoon gets genuinely hot to hold after a couple of bowls, and walnut doesn't.
The airpath is 100% borosilicate glass, so nothing about the smoke touches wood. The walnut is the shell you actually grip.
Four inches by one. Spoon-style, with a bowl and a side carb — the photos include close-ups of both, plus the mouthpiece and the wood grain, if you want to look before you buy.
MJ Arsenal named it after mountain creeks, and the shape follows that idea: a long, slightly winding body rather than the usual straight tube-and-blob. It's the least pipe-shaped pipe in our case, which for a lot of people is the entire appeal.
One honest caveat up front: wood and isopropyl don't mix. The standard glass-cleaning routine will dry out and dull the walnut. The care section below tells you exactly what to do instead — it's easy, but only if you know before rather than after.

Summary: A 4" borosilicate spoon pipe in a walnut sleeve — cool to hold, discreet to leave out, and needing gentler cleaning than plain glass.
⭐ Who This Product Is For / Not For
Ideal For:
- Anyone who wants a pipe that can sit out in a shared space without announcing itself.
- People who find all-glass spoons get uncomfortably hot to hold.
- Gift buyers — this is the one that looks like a considered object rather than smoking gear.
- Anyone already in the Alpine range alongside the Granby Hand Pipe or Ridge Chillum.
- Anyone who wants a 4" pipe that's comfortable to hold rather than the smallest possible.
Not Recommended For:
- Anyone who cleans by soaking everything in isopropyl. The walnut won't tolerate it. See care — there is a good method, it's just not that one.
- Anyone who wants water filtration. This is a dry pipe — the Alpine Steamboat Bubbler is the wet version.
- Anyone wanting the cheapest possible pipe. The Ridge Chillum is the entry point to Alpine.
- Anyone who wants something pocket-sized. Four inches is comfortable in the hand, not invisible in a jeans pocket.
- Concentrate users. Flower bowl, no joint, not a rig.
⚠️ Known Limitations
- The walnut changes how you clean it. Isopropyl dries out wood, raises the grain and dulls the finish. Plain-glass cleaning habits will visibly age this pipe. The method that works is in the care section and takes no longer.
- The product photos show an exploded view suggesting the walnut sleeve separates from the glass. MJ Arsenal doesn't state this either way and lists the box contents as one pipe, so we won't claim it comes apart until we've confirmed it. Ask us and we'll check the one in our warehouse — if it does separate, cleaning gets considerably easier.
- Wood is not dishwasher, boiling water, or long-soak friendly. Keep it dry beyond a wipe.
- No water filtration. Dry pipe, warmer draw than a bubbler by nature.
- Every walnut piece has different grain. Yours won't match the photos exactly — that's wood, not a defect.
Summary: Wood care is the real consideration; everything else is a standard 4" dry spoon.
🔹 Features & Benefits
- 100% borosilicate glass airpath: Lab-grade glass, chemical-resistant and neutral, so nothing about the flavour changes.
- Walnut wood sleeve: Stays cool in the hand where glass would get hot, and gives the pipe a genuinely different feel in use.
- Side carb: Proper control over clearing the bowl, as you'd expect from a spoon.
- 4" × 1": Big enough to hold comfortably, small enough to put away.
- Alpine Collection design: A winding, creek-inspired body rather than a straight tube — the least conspicuous pipe shape we stock.
- Natural grain: Every piece is slightly different.
- Nothing else needed: Dry pipe, no downstem, no bowl to buy, no water.
🔧 Compatibility
- Type: Dry hand pipe (spoon). Self-contained.
- Joint size: None — it doesn't attach to anything.
- Water: Not designed for water. Use it dry.
- Screens: Standard small pipe screens fit if you prefer one.
- Not compatible with: Bangers, downstems, bong bowls, carb caps, or any Puffco attachment.
📋 How to Use
- Pack the bowl lightly. Over-packing restricts airflow on any pipe this size.
- Cover the side carb with a finger or thumb.
- Draw while lighting the bowl.
- Release the carb to clear.
- Let it cool before putting it away — the glass cools quickly, but don't put a warm pipe into a fabric pouch.
- Wipe the walnut with a dry cloth if it picks up anything. Don't wet it.
🧼 Care & Maintenance
Read this one — the walnut changes the usual advice completely.
- Do not soak this pipe in isopropyl. That's the standard method for glass and it is the wrong method here. Alcohol strips the oils out of walnut, raises the grain and leaves the finish dull and dry.
- Clean the bowl and airpath with targeted swabs. Dr. Dabber Iso-Snaps let you reach the resin without wetting the wood at all — this is exactly the situation they're made for.
- Wipe the walnut with a dry or barely-damp cloth only. No solvent, no soaking, no running water over it.
- Clean it often rather than deeply. A quick swab after each session stops residue building to the point where you'd be tempted to soak it.
- If the walnut ever looks dry, a tiny amount of food-safe mineral or wood oil on a cloth will bring it back. Don't use furniture polish.
- Store it somewhere dry. Wood and damp cupboards don't agree.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Does the smoke touch the wood?
No. The airpath is 100% borosilicate glass. The walnut is a sleeve around the outside — it's what your hand touches, not what the smoke does.
Can I clean it with isopropyl?
Not by soaking it. Alcohol dries out walnut and dulls the finish. Use targeted swabs on the bowl and airpath and a dry cloth on the wood. The pipe will work fine either way — this is about keeping the walnut looking like walnut.
Does the wood come apart from the glass?
The photos include an exploded view that suggests it does, but MJ Arsenal doesn't confirm it and lists the box as containing one pipe. We're not going to claim it until we've checked. Message us and we'll open the one in our warehouse and tell you — if it separates, cleaning is much easier.
Does it have a carb?
Yes, on the side. There's a dedicated close-up in the photos.
Will it get hot to hold?
Much less than an all-glass spoon. That's most of the reason the Alpine Collection exists.
Will my pipe look exactly like the photos?
Close, but not identical — walnut grain varies piece to piece. That's the nature of wood rather than a fault.
