Protective cases for vapes, dab rigs and concentrates split into three categories: device-specific hardshell cases (Puffco Peak Bag, Journey Bag, Proxy Travel Bag, Pivot/Hot Knife Travel Case), universal hardshell cases (Cookies x Pelican 1050 Micro Case, Alchemy Jars lockable airtight) and soft smell-proof carriers (RYOT Pro Duffle, Cookies Trek Roller, Dime Bags Omerta, MJ Arsenal padded pouches). Angies Boutique stocks 25 cases covering travel, daily carry, TSA-compliant transport and odor-isolation use cases. Same-day shipping from our LA Chinatown shop.

The Right Case Depends on What You're Protecting and Where You're Going

Buying a protective case is a question of three variables: what device or material you're protecting, the shock and weather environment, and whether odor isolation matters. A Puffco Peak Pro thrown loose in a backpack will crack its glass attachment inside a week — it needs device-fit hardshell padding. A jar of concentrate going through TSA needs an airtight lockable case, not a fabric pouch. A bag of flower going on a road trip with passengers needs a carbon-lined smell-proof carrier, not a Pelican. Each category in this collection answers a different one of those questions.

Device-fit cases are molded or padded to a specific unit. The Puffco Peak Bag and Puffco Journey Bag both fit the Peak Pro but at different scales — the Peak Bag is a slim padded sleeve for short trips, the Journey Bag is a full kit case with compartments for attachments, atomizers, dab tool, carb cap, isopropyl and cotton swabs. The Puffco Proxy Travel Bag is sized to the Proxy's modular pieces. The Puffco Travel Case fits the Pivot folding rig and the Hot Knife heater. None of these are interchangeable across devices — the foam cutouts are unique.

Universal hardshell cases like the Cookies x Pelican 1050 Micro Case and Alchemy Jars cases are crushproof, often waterproof, and accommodate whatever you cut foam to fit. The Pelican 1050 is mil-spec ABS with a watertight O-ring seal and pressure-equalization valve — the same Pelican line used by photographers for camera bodies, redressed in Cookies branding. Alchemy Jars PurpSkurp is a lockable airtight stash case sized for concentrates and small accessories. Soft smell-proof cases — RYOT Pro Duffle, Dime Bags Omerta line, MJ Arsenal padded pouches, Cookies Trek Roller — use activated carbon liners and sealed zippers to contain odor while staying carry-friendly.

      Brands and Case Lines

Puffco is the dominant device-fit case maker because Puffco makes the devices. The Peak Bag is a slim padded soft case for the Peak Pro — best for daily commute and short trips. The Journey Bag is a full hardshell travel kit with molded compartments for the Peak Pro base, the glass attachment in foam, swap atomizers, the dab tool, carb cap and isopropyl. The Proxy Travel Bag is a similar concept sized to the Proxy modular system. The Puffco Travel Case is the Pivot/Hot Knife companion — fits the folding rig plus the Hot Knife heater plus dab tools.

Cookies x Pelican brings the 1050 Micro Case — Pelican's smallest waterproof case (interior 7.5 x 4.7 x 3.1 inches) with the standard automatic pressure equalization valve, watertight O-ring, double-throw latches, and rubberized handle. Cookies branding does not change the spec — it's a genuine Pelican 1050 in Cookies colorways. Mil-STD certified.

Alchemy Jars PurpSkurp Black is a lockable airtight stash case with silicone-lined compartments designed for concentrate jars, dab tools and small accessories. Combination lock standard. RYOT Pro Duffle is the full road-trip soft case with carbon SmellSafe technology, lockable zippers and modular interior. Dime Bags Omerta Soldier and the rest of the Omerta line are hemp-blend smell-proof carriers. MJ Arsenal padded zippered pouches are sized for the brand's mini rigs. Cookies Trek Roller is a smell-proof rolling case for longer trips.

How to Choose: 5 Decision Factors

      1. Device-specific or universal

If you own a Puffco unit, the device-fit Puffco case is the optimal answer — foam cutouts are exact, attachment is suspended away from impact zones, accessories have designated slots so nothing rattles. If you own multiple devices, a Focus V Carta 2, or anything outside Puffco's lineup, a Cookies x Pelican 1050 with custom-cut foam serves better.

      2. Crushproof and waterproof rating

Pelican 1050 is IP67 waterproof and crushproof to a stated weight — survives airline cargo handling, rain, drops on concrete. Puffco hardshell cases are crushproof but not rated waterproof; they survive normal travel abuse, not submersion. Soft cases provide impact padding but no crush or water protection.

      3. Smell-proof construction

Real smell-proof construction means activated carbon liner inside a sealed-zipper or magnetic-closure enclosure. Activated carbon adsorbs odor molecules; the seal contains residual escape. RYOT SmellSafe and Dime Bags Omerta are the reference lines. Carbon liners last 6–12 months of daily use before adsorption capacity declines and the bag should be replaced or refreshed.

      4. Lockable

Pelican 1050 accommodates TSA-approved combination padlocks through the latch eyelets. Alchemy Jars cases ship with integrated combination locks. RYOT Pro Duffle has lockable zippers. Locks restrict access for kids, roommates and curious airport handlers but do not change TSA rules about contents.

      5. TSA and travel rules

Hardshell cases protect device hardware in checked luggage without restriction. Carry-on rules depend entirely on what's inside the case — devices, batteries and contents are subject to TSA rules independent of the case. Lithium-ion batteries (including Puffco) generally must go carry-on per FAA rules. Concentrates and flower are subject to federal and state law regardless of case. See our guide to traveling with vapes.

      Glossary

      Device-fit case
A protective case with foam cutouts molded or shaped to a specific device — typically OEM accessory like the Puffco Peak Bag or Journey Bag. Foam suspends device away from impact zones; designated slots prevent rattle and accessory loss.
      Mil-STD / mil-spec
Tested to US military durability standards — drop, vibration, temperature, immersion. Pelican cases including the 1050 carry mil-STD certification, meaning they survive cargo aircraft handling, drops onto concrete and exposure to weather.
      IP67
Ingress Protection rating: dust-tight and waterproof to 1 meter immersion for 30 minutes. The Pelican 1050 meets IP67 with its O-ring seal and automatic pressure-equalization valve.
      Activated carbon liner
An interior liner made from carbon treated to maximize surface area for adsorption. Captures volatile organic compounds responsible for smell. Used in RYOT SmellSafe and Dime Bags Omerta lines. Effective for roughly 6–12 months before adsorption capacity declines.
      Pressure equalization valve
A one-way valve on Pelican cases that equalizes pressure between interior and exterior during altitude changes (flying, driving over mountain passes). Prevents the case from being impossible to open after a pressure differential develops.
      Pivot / Hot Knife
Puffco's folding portable dab rig and standalone induction-heater unit. The Puffco Travel Case is purpose-built to hold both with compartments for the folding rig and the heater.

Frequently Asked Questions about Protective Cases | Puffco, Pelican, RYOT Travel Bags

Two answers depending on use. For daily commute, the Puffco Peak Bag is a padded soft sleeve that fits the Peak Pro and slips into a backpack — light, fast access, enough padding for normal handling. For travel where you want the device, glass attachment, dab tool, carb cap, atomizer swaps and cleaning supplies all in one case, the Puffco Journey Bag is the answer. The Journey Bag is hardshell with molded foam compartments specifically designed for the Peak Pro ecosystem — the glass attachment is suspended in foam where it won't impact-crack, atomizers have their own slots, the device base locks in. Both are OEM from Puffco. If you want crushproof watertight protection for checked airline travel, pair the Peak Pro with the Cookies x Pelican 1050 Micro Case.
The Peak Bag is a slim soft padded sleeve — think of it as a sock for the Peak Pro that adds shock absorption. Fits the device, maybe the dab tool, very little else. Lives easily in a backpack. The Journey Bag is the full kit case — hardshell exterior, molded foam interior with dedicated compartments for the Peak Pro base, the glass attachment (suspended away from impacts), atomizer swaps, the dab tool, carb cap, isopropyl wipes, cotton swabs and storage jars. The Peak Bag is for getting from home to a friend's place. The Journey Bag is for going on a trip and wanting everything you need for the device in one organized case.
The cases themselves pass TSA security inspection without issue — they're standard luggage hardware. "TSA-approved" usually refers to padlocks (TSA agents have master keys to TSA-approved combination padlocks, so they can inspect without cutting locks). The Pelican 1050 accepts TSA-approved padlocks through the latch eyelets. What TSA scrutinizes is what's inside the case, not the case. Lithium-ion batteries in Puffco devices must go in carry-on per FAA rules, not checked. Concentrates and flower are subject to federal and state law independent of the case. See our guide to traveling with vapes for the full breakdown.
Three lock formats in this collection. (1) Padlock-ready: the Cookies x Pelican 1050 Micro Case has latch eyelets sized for standard padlocks including TSA-approved combination padlocks. Add your own lock. (2) Built-in combination lock: the Alchemy Jars PurpSkurp Black ships with an integrated combination lock — no extra hardware needed. (3) Lockable zippers: the RYOT Pro Duffle has zipper pulls that accept small luggage locks. Locks restrict casual access by kids, roommates and curious hands. They do not change legal requirements or TSA rules. Pelican-style hardshell locks resist forced entry significantly better than fabric zipper locks.
Different purposes, both correct in their lanes. The Puffco Journey Bag is purpose-built for the Peak Pro — foam compartments are exact, accessory slots are right, the device suspends correctly. For Peak Pro use it's the best case in the collection. The Cookies x Pelican 1050 is more rugged in absolute terms — IP67 waterproof, mil-STD crushproof, lockable padlock-ready — and accepts any device once foam is trimmed. Buy the Puffco case if you own a Puffco device and want device-fit organization. Buy the Pelican if you need maximum environmental protection, own multiple devices, or own a non-Puffco unit (Focus V Carta 2, Dr Dabber, etc).
Real smell-proof construction substantially reduces odor escape but does not eliminate it indefinitely. Activated carbon liners adsorb volatile aroma compounds; sealed zippers and magnetic closures contain residual molecules. The combination produces a case where dogs and humans cannot detect odor in normal handling. Limits to know: very strong material loaded into a small case eventually saturates the carbon and odor begins to escape; carbon adsorption capacity declines over 6–12 months of daily use; opening and closing the case repeatedly releases the contained air. RYOT Pro Duffle and Dime Bags Omerta are the reference smell-proof lines in this collection.
Approximately 6–12 months under normal daily use before adsorption capacity declines noticeably. Carbon loses effectiveness as it adsorbs moisture, oils and aromatic compounds — there's a finite number of binding sites per gram of carbon. Storage in dry conditions extends life; constant exposure to humid environments shortens it. Signs the carbon is spent: odor escapes the closed case, the liner smells musty rather than neutral, the case retains aroma after airing out. Most users replace the case every 1–2 years; some manufacturers offer replacement liners. Drying the carbon in low heat can partially restore capacity but is not a permanent fix.
Two-layer system. Concentrates go into a stable airtight container — silicone for sticky concentrates, glass jars for less-tacky materials, ideally with a humidity-controlled environment. That container then goes into a protective outer case. The Alchemy Jars PurpSkurp Black combines both layers in one product — airtight silicone-lined compartments with combination-locked aluminum shell. For larger kits, the Puffco Journey Bag has designated storage jar slots, and the Cookies x Pelican 1050 accepts custom-trimmed foam holding multiple jars. Always carry concentrates in carry-on when flying; checked bag pressure and temperature changes can compromise containers.
Yes — hardshell cases are designed for checked airline travel. The Pelican 1050 is small enough for carry-on but rated to survive cargo handling. The Puffco Journey Bag and Proxy Travel Bag are crushproof and survive checked transit. What you cannot check are lithium-ion batteries — including the battery in a Puffco Peak Pro, Proxy, Pivot, Focus V Carta 2 and similar devices. FAA rules require lithium-ion in carry-on only. Solution: pack the device and battery in carry-on (in its hardshell case), check accessories and non-battery hardware. Concentrate and flower legality is independent of case selection and varies by jurisdiction.
Physically it may fit dimensionally but the foam cutouts are molded for the Peak Pro silhouette, not the Carta 2. The device will rattle, the glass attachment will not seat correctly in the foam pocket, and the accessory compartments are sized for Puffco-specific tools. For a Focus V Carta 2 use the Cookies x Pelican 1050 Micro Case with foam trimmed to the Carta 2 shape, or look at Focus V's own travel solutions if available. Device-fit cases are device-specific by design — the entire value proposition is the exact molding.
Spot-clean fabric cases with a damp microfiber and mild soap. Most fabric carriers including Dime Bags Omerta, Cookies Trek Roller and the Puffco Peak Bag should not be machine-washed — agitation degrades carbon liners, breaks zipper seals and warps padding. Air-dry only; heat from dryers degrades coatings. For interior odor refresh, leave the case open in dry air for 24–48 hours. For sticky concentrate residue inside, isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab. Hardshell cases (Pelican, Alchemy Jars) wipe clean with damp cloth; the interior foam can be vacuumed.
The Puffco Travel Case for the Pivot folding rig also accommodates the Hot Knife — that's the most common dual-purpose case in the lineup. The Hot Knife is an induction heater used standalone with quartz nails on traditional rigs and travels well in compact hardshell cases. If you own just the Hot Knife and not the Pivot, the same case still works; you'll have unused compartment space. Alternatives include the Cookies x Pelican 1050 with foam trimmed to the Hot Knife dimensions. See our Puffco Hot Knife guide for usage and travel context.
