How to tell if you need male or female

Look at the joint on your bong or rig. If it is a socket you drop a piece into, you need a male accessory from this collection. If it is a tube that slides into something, you need a female accessory instead. When in doubt, measure the outer diameter of the joint: 10mm, 14mm, and 18mm are the standard sizes.
