Badder Explained
Whipped into a soft, glossy batter that holds a loose shape on a tool. Wetter than budder, firmer than sauce.
Overview
What is Badder?
Badder is a solvent-based cannabis concentrate whipped into a soft, glossy texture that looks like cake batter. It is made in a licensed lab by extracting the resin with a hydrocarbon solvent, purging the solvent and whipping the extract as it sets. Badder is pale gold to amber, wetter than budder, and is dabbed in a rig, e-rig or concentrate pen. It is often made from live resin.
Badder sits between runny sauce and smooth budder. It is whipped like budder but usually holds on to more moisture and terpenes, so it looks wetter and glossier and slumps a little on the tool. You will often see live resin sold as badder, which means a whipped concentrate made from fresh frozen plants.
Texture and color
What does Badder look like?
Where Badder sits on the texture scale
Badder sits right in the middle: softer and wetter than budder, but still firm enough to hold a loose shape on a scoop.
Cake batter
Soft, glossy
The classic look. Whipped, glossy and soft, it holds a loose peak on a tool.
Live badder
Wetter, aromatic
Made from live resin, it is often wetter and shinier, with more aroma.
Firm badder
Toward budder
Whipped longer or drier, badder firms up and looks more like budder.
Process
How is Badder made?
Badder is made like budder. Plant material, dried or fresh frozen, goes through a closed-loop hydrocarbon extraction in a licensed lab, the solvent is purged, and the extract is whipped as it sets.
Badder usually ends up softer and wetter than budder because it holds more terpenes or is whipped differently. If the starting material was fresh frozen, it is sold as live badder or live resin badder.
Safety note: hydrocarbon extraction uses flammable, pressurized gas and belongs in a licensed lab with closed-loop equipment. This page does not cover extraction steps, and Angies Boutique does not sell extraction equipment.

How does Badder compare?
Badder vs Budder
SameBoth are whipped, opaque solvent-based concentrates, and the names are often swapped.
DifferentBudder is smoother and firmer, like butter. Badder is wetter and looser, like cake batter.
Badder vs Sauce
SameBoth are wet, sticky and full of aroma.
DifferentSauce is runny with crystals in it. Badder is whipped, so it holds a loose shape.
Badder vs Live resin
SameLive resin is often sold as badder.
DifferentLive resin describes the fresh frozen starting material. Badder describes the whipped texture.
Shop the gear
What gear works best with Badder?
Badder is sticky, so the right tool matters. A scoop dab tool or a hot knife picks it up cleanly, and an electric rig like the Dr. Dabber Switch 2 or a portable like the Puffco Pivot keeps the heat gentle for a flavorful dab.

Questions
Badder FAQ
Is badder the same as budder?
Often the names are used for the same whipped concentrate. When they are separated, badder is the wetter, looser one that looks like cake batter, and budder is smoother and firmer.
What is live badder?
Live badder is badder made from live resin, meaning the plants were frozen right after harvest instead of being dried and cured.
Why is badder so sticky?
It holds more moisture and terpenes than drier textures like wax or crumble, which makes it soft and tacky. A scoop or hot knife helps.
How should badder be stored?
In an airtight container somewhere cool and dark. Air and heat can make it oily, dry it out or change its texture.
What gear works best with badder?
An electric dab rig or portable concentrate vaporizer, or a glass rig with a quartz banger and terp pearls, plus a scoop tool or hot knife.
Does Angies Boutique sell badder?
No. Angies Boutique sells the gear for it, including the Dr. Dabber Switch 2, Puffco Pivot, hot knives, quartz bangers, terp pearls and dab tools, from our Los Angeles shop open since 1990.
